(author's usage) Цель всей жизни была достигнута. Свечной заводик в Самаре сам лез в руки (Ильф и Петров 1). His life ambition was achieved. The candle factory in Samara was falling into his lap (1a).

Что значит быть красивой, - всё само... плывет в руки (Рыбаков 2). That's what being beautiful meant. Everything just dropped into your lap (2a).
